QuikRead go HbA1c evaluated in the presence of Hb Tacoma variant
The QuikRead go HbA1c test was one among six point-of-care (POC) methods to be evaluated in the presence of the Hb Tacoma variant study. The variant is common in Finland, with a regional prevalence of up to 2%. Cases are also reported in areas with Finnish immigrants, particularly in Sweden and North America. The study revealed that while most methods showed minimal bias, one method exhibited significant interference, underscoring the importance of clinical patient history and examination together with diagnostic testing for accurate diabetes management.
POC HbA1c tests, such as QuikRead go HbA1c, improve patient engagement. The results can be discussed with healthcare professionals during the same patient visit, which facilitates better patient understanding and commitment to the treatment. Consequently, patients can control their blood sugar levels more efficiently, leading to fewer complications due to diabetes.
Manage diabetes and protect your health with QuikRead go HbA1c.
