November is Bladder Health Awareness month
An accurate UTI diagnosis helps reduce unnecessary antibiotic use, supports bladder health, and combats antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
The Bladder Health Awareness month is here to highlight the importance of the bladder. The bladder joins the kidneys, ureters, urethra, and some other minor organs to form the urinary system, and an infection to any part of the system is called a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI).
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are associated with 25–40% of antibiotics consumed in primary care1. For almost any antibiotic and any type of resistance there is a significant correlation between increasing consumption and increasing resistance2. The aim must be to keep antibiotic consumption as low as possible - but offering treatment for the patients who need it.
Many countries treat uncomplicated UTIs mainly based on symptoms, but correct diagnosis is key to avoiding unnecessary treatment. Aidian offers Uricult products for diagnosing urinary tract infections. Visit Uricult tests web page to learn more and contact us for more details.
